2Hawk Vineyard of Oregon’s Rogue Valley: New Releases

The 2Hawk Vineyard and Winery, located in the Bear Creek sub-basin of the Rogue River, is small but growing fast. In this article, we review some of their latest releases. With new vineyard plantings in an up and coming wine region, a new winery, and a full time, skilled winemaker the future looks very bright for 2Hawk.

2Hawk was purchased by Jen and Ross Allen from the founders, Rich and Nisha Jackson, in 2014.  Ross is a California almond and pistachio farmer who now applies his meticulous farming to his Rogue Valley vineyard.  Ross also serves as President of the newly formed Rogue Valley Vintners Association (www.rvvwine.com).

Since purchasing the property, they’ve expanded the vineyard’s plantings from 15 to 26 acres and built a new winery, which allowed 2Hawk to move pressing and winemaking operations in house. With the expanded plantings, all the wine is from estate grown grapes.

The winemaker is UC Davis grad Kiley Evans who previously made wine at Raffaldini Vineyard and Cellars in North Carolina and Ledger David Cellars in Oregon.  [For those who don’t know it, Raffaldini is one of the premier wineries on the East Coast—see our recent report The Wines of North Carolina.]

Total production is 3500 cases with the capacity for 10 thousand cases.
