We recently reviewed the wines of this estate but this lovely Pinot Noir was not among them. It is clearly the best wine we’ve tasted from this up-and-coming producer.
Pinot Noir Kastania Vineyard Sonoma Coast ($42) 91 The 2013 Willobrook Pinot Noir Kastania Vineyard offers attractive dark cherry aromas with toasted oak notes. It has a soft texture with good intensity of fruit flavor and a touch of spice. round silky tannins and a persistent finish. Winemaker Joe Otos has done a very nice job on this wine. Only 173 cases made.
Started in 2001 by winemaker Joe Otos and two partners, Willowbrook Cellars in Sebastopol produces small quantities of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Syrah. The other partners include retired technology executive John Tracy and retired sales executive Ed Sillari. While the winery’s main focus appears to be Pinot Noir, the Zinfandel reviewed here is of excellent quality.
