Anthill Farms Winery: 2012 Pinot Noir Releases

Anthill WineryAnthill Farms is small artisanal winery producing some of California’s finest  new wave Pinot Noirs.  They source their grapes  from outstanding vineyards along the Far Sonoma Coast of California and Mendocino County.  Launched in 2004, the winery is a collaborative venture  of three friends:  Anthony Filberti,  David Low, and Webster Marquez who met while working as “cellar rats” at the famed Williams-Selyem  winery in Russian River Valley.

Anthill produces six single-vineyard Pinot Noirs and two appellation wines.  While the wines reviewed here each reveal their unique terroir, they also share much in common.  They are perfumed, fresh tasting, high in acidity, and elegant with judicious use of oak.  Some also have beguiling notes of stems from partial whole cluster fermentation.  All in all, they are magnificent wines exemplary of the new wave of Pinot Noirs being produced today along the coast in Sonoma County.   For an in-depth look at Sonoma County and its wines see our upcoming Report # 44 The Wines of Sonoma November 2012.

Anthill wines are mainly sold through the winery’s mailing list in the Spring and Fall, but a small quantity is released to restaurants and wine shops.   Anthill Farms winery is located on Dry Creek Road in Healdsburg.  Tel: 707-385-9396
