Winemaker Joshua Klapper

Timbre is the new name of an outstanding 10-year old winery called La Fenetre.  The winery is based in Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County and was founded in 2005 by winemaker, Joshua Klapper  and  friend Alex Katz.  Three years ago when the International Wine Review prepared its Report #36 The Wines of Santa Barbara,  we met with  Josh Kapper and tasted his wines.   We were, to say the least, impressed with Josh’s winemaking and wrote in our report  that his wines were “very well made and show the great promise of this young winemaker.”

TimbreThe Timbre wines reviewed here are Josh’s new releases and they exceed even our assessments of just a few years ago. Sourced from top vineyards of the Santa Maria Valley and the Central Coast, they exhibit beautiful fruit flavors, overall elegance and perfect balance. They also show a sense of place, great restraint in the use of oak, and minimalist winemaking.  For Josh Klapper winemaking is a form of artistic expression, and we fully endorse that approach to winemaking.
