Shane Finely is an affable and very talented young winemaker. He is one of a new generation of winemakers in Sonoma County who are making a name for themselves in the industry. Although only in his 30s Shane has had a wealth of winemaking experience in France, Australia and California. He has worked at Domaine Pierre Gaillard in the Rhone, Torbreck in the Barossa Valley, and at Copain and Kosta Browne in California. Two years ago he became the winemaker at Lynmar Estate, one of the finest wineries in the Russian River Valley.
In his spare time, Shane is the owner and winemaker of Shane Wine Cellars. It is hard to imagine he has much “spare” time to produce his own wines, but he does, and we were among the lucky ones to taste them during his recent visit to Washington, DC. Shane produces tiny quantities of Pinot Noir, Syrah and other Rhone varieties. He sources grapes from some very fine vineyards mainly in Sonoma County and Mendocino. The wines reviewed here are well made and delicious. Shane has a talent for producing highly drinkable wines that showcase California fruit and the unique qualities of growing areas from which they are sourced.
Because of the small quantities produced,, we suggest you contact Shane’s distributor for information on where you can purchase these wines. Distributor: Nice Legs –firstname.lastname@example.org
